Hoover schools offer parent talk on drug abuse trends, student anxiety, bullying and more
Parents from all Hoover City Schools are invited to a meeting tonight to discuss a range of topics from substance abuse trends, student anxiety, bullying, college readiness, social media and digital ethics.
The “Let’s Keep Talking” meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crossroads alternative school at the former Berry High School campus at 2826 Columbiana Road.
A panel of educators, counselors and social workers will share information with parents. Angela Camp, the national coordinator for adolescent marketing at Bradford Health Services, will deliver a keynote address titled “Parenting with Purpose: Building Resilient Families.”
Other scheduled speakers include:
- Cindy Bond, Hoover High School college and career specialist
- Natalie Noble, Hoover City Schools career coach
- Jeff Richardson, Hoover City Schools instructional technology coach
- Alice Churnock, licensed professional counselor with Covenant Counseling Center
- Katie Smith, Hoover High School student assistance counselor
- Margaret Kneisley, Berry Middle School assistant principal
“We are so pleased to be able to offer such valuable information from speakers that are dynamic and experts in their fields,” said Marion Kellough, an intervention counselor with Hoover City Schools, in a press release. “The information will equip parents with just what they need to talk with their children about some very timely topics. This will be a very educational night for parents – a great investment of their time.”
