Leslie Wiley was crowned Miss Senior Class at the Hoover Beauty Walk on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the historic Alabama Theatre.

Leslie’s sister, Courtney, won the pageant in 2005.

Top finishers were Madelyn Shelton, Madison Vacarella, Kristen Swan and Brittany Thompson.

Nineteen senior boys nominated by the faculty and staff at Hoover High School served as escorts.

Event emcees were James Spann and Miss Alabama 2011 Courtney Porter. The talent acts were Ten Bucs, Elliot Davis Trio including Alden Michaels and James Bryd, and alumnus Caleb Gibson.

In the first round of competition, 78 contestants were judged on stage presence, poise and posture, beauty, and overall appearance.  The contestants were scored by five judges.

The field of contestants was then narrowed to a Top 30 and then to a Top 10.

During the Top 30 competition, girls wrote a short speech about plans after high school, and for the Top 10 round they answered a question on stage.

The event was planned by Heather Darling and the senior class officers at Hoover High School.
