Elementary robot clubs begin challenges this weekend

Hoover City Schools LEGO Robotics is holding its first challenge of 2014 on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Greystone Elementary. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon, and up to 70 students from across the Hoover City Schools district are expected to participate.

LEGO Club sponsors Mandy Fox and Judy Simpson at Greystone have set the theme for this event as “SEC Football.”

This is the system’s third year to hold challenges among LEGO Clubs. Through its grant program, the Hoover City Schools Foundation has provided funding for much of the equipment.

The system’s LEGO Challenge Fair No. 2 is scheduled for Feb. 8 at Brock’s Gap Elementary, and Challenge Fair No. 3 is scheduled for March 15 at Green Valley Elementary or Shades Mountain Elementary.
