Award-winning children's author Curtis to visit Hoover Oct. 8

Christopher Paul Curtis, award-winning author of several books for children and teens, will make Hoover's Robert F. Bumpus Middle School (RFBMS) one of only two school stops during his trip to Alabama next week.

Recently, his book - The Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963 - has been a feature production for Birmingham's Children's Theater in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Birmingham's Civil Rights Movement. His presentation/school assembly at RFBMS will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the school gymnasium on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Curtis' scheduled visit is made possible by Alabama Public Television and Birmingham Children's Theater. R.F. Bumpus Middle School is located at 6055 Fleming Parkway, 35244.
