Local author Heather Jones Skaggs announced today that she is working on her third book about Hoover, this one focused on the community of Riverchase.

The book, according to a press release by Skaggs and Arcadia Publishing, will be part of the "Images of Modern America" series. It is scheduled to be published as part of the 2016-2017 collection of the series.

“Riverchase was always on my mind while writing the second book, Images of America: Hoover,” Skaggs said, noting that the community did not fit with the more historic focus of her previous books.

Images of America: Hoover and Images of America: Bluff Park were part of a related series, but the Riverchase book will be focused on the community and business area's more recent history since the 1970s. It will be one of the first books in the series focused on Alabama.

“People are passionate about the community and it will be an honor to write this book for them,” Skaggs said in the release.

As part of her research, Skaggs is looking for residents with knowledge of Riverchase's history or photographs, drawings, advertisements or maps related to the area. Anyone interested in providing these items can contact her at bluffwriter@gmail.com.
