International organist Gail Archer to perform recital at Bluff Park United Methodist Church

Gail Archer, an international concert organist, choral conductor and lecturer, is scheduled to perform in an organ recital at Bluff Park United Methodist Church this Sunday.

The recital is set for 4 p.m. at the church at 733 Valley Street, with a reception to follow. Admission is free.

Archer is the college organist at Vassar College and director of the music program at Barnard College at Columbia University, where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. She also serves as director of the artist and young organ artist recitals at the Central Synagogue in New York City and is the founder of Musforum, a professional network of female organists, according to her website.

She has performed in Russia, Italy, Germany and Denmark and in 2010 celebrated the 325th anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebatian Bach with six concerts around New York City.
