Distinguished Young Women of JeffCo competition returns July 15

The Distinguished Young Women of Jefferson County competition (formerly known as Junior Miss) will be held Friday and Saturday, July 15 and July 16, at the Hoover High School Theater.

Twenty-five high school senior girls representing 10 high schools from across Jefferson County will compete for cash tuition and college-granted scholarships and the opportunity to represent Jefferson County in the Distinguished Young Women of Alabama competition in Montgomery in January.

Abigail Albritton, the current Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County, will make special piano performances nightly. Celebrating a theme of “Dancing in the Dark”, participants will compete on stage in the categories of talent, fitness and self-expression.

On the final night of competition, finalists and category winners will be selected, and the Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County 2017 will be named.

All tickets are for reserved seating and are $15 each for the preliminaries, to be held at 7 p.m. on July 15 and 1 p.m. on July 16. Tickets for the 7 p.m. finals on July 16 are $25 each.
