Community strides in purple for pancreatic cancer

On Saturday, April 18, PurpleStride Birmingham at Veterans Park raised awareness and support for the fight against pancreatic cancer. The event featured a 5K and family-friendly walk, children’s activities, entertainment, refreshments and more.

It is estimated that more than 48,900 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and more than 40,000 will die from the disease. It is the fourth leading cause of cancer death, with a 5-year relative survival rate of just 7 percent.
