Miss Hoover Callie Walker promotes importance of recycling

Miss Hoover is helping turn Birmingham Dance Theatre green.

Callie Walker, 18, will compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant in June, representing the city of Hoover as Miss Hoover. Walker’s community service platform is called “Let’s Talk Trash! — Green Kids for a Green Planet.” The goal of her platform is to educate and inform people on the importance of recycling.

Walker proposed the idea of recycling within the studio to Birmingham Dance Theatre, and the studio now has three recycling receptacles for students, parents and teachers to use.
