Woman shot and killed at Hoover apartment; family member being questioned

A 40-year-old woman was shot to death at at Hoover apartment complex Sunday, and police report they are questioning a 23-year-old family member.

Preliminary information suggests the woman was shot after a family argument escalated, police said.

The woman was discovered by Hoover police in an apartment at Alpine Village Apartments on Lorna Road. Police responded after receiving a hang-up 911 call at 2:49 p.m. on Sunday.

The woman was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police report the male family member is being held at Hoover City Jail, pending formal charges. More information, including names, will be released after formal notifications have been made and an arrest warrant is obtained, according to police.
