Woman killed in Riverchase wreck after BMW leaves road, hits tree

Hoover police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Riverchase that left a 46-year-old Hoover woman dead late Monday night.

Vandy Kay Ellis was driving a 2014 BMW 335i when it left the road in the 2500 block of Riverhaven Lane and crashed into a tree, police Lt. Keith Czeskleba said in a news release.

Police responded to the wreck at 11:08 p.m. Ellis, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:59 p.m., Czeskleba said.

Hoover traffic investigators are working to reconstruct the crash to determine its cause, he said.
