Hoover police arrested two suspects after shots were fired into a home on Deer Valley Road. No occupants were injured.

The Hoover 911 Center received a call reporting the shooting Monday at 1:35 a.m. An officer was also patrolling the area at that time and pulled over a white Mercedes-Benz for reckless driving.

"Our officer who made this traffic stop had no idea that he was pulling over someone who had just fired rounds into a house," said Capt. Gregg Rector. "When he received that information he was able to arrest both individuals without incident."

During the traffic stop, the officer saw a handgun in the back seat. Both suspects, later identified as Joshua Gregory Brown and Deandre Montray Hollice of Ensley, were removed from the car. Two handguns and a shotgun were recovered from the vehicle.

Officers interviewed the residents of the Deer Valley home, and they gave the name of a possible suspect - which matched the name of one of the men in the car - to police. A 19-year-old living at the house had an ongoing feud with one of the suspects in the car, according to the report.

One of the suspects admitted his role in the shooting and said the other occupant also participated.

Brown, 20, and Hollice, 23, were both charged with shooting into occupied dwelling, and each has bond set at $30,000.

They were transferred to Jefferson County Jail Monday night.

There were five people in the house that night, Rector said, and it is fortunate that no one was injured by the rounds fired.
