Two Hoover police officers and a fleeing suspect were injured after a foot chase went through a wooded area in Bluff Park Sunday night.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about a suspicious male in the 2200 block of Kenbridge Circle in Bluff Park. The suspect ran when he saw the officers, and the officers chased him into a thick, wooded area, Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said.

They caught the suspect, but he fought them as they took him into custody, Rector said. Two injured officers were taken to Brookwood Medical Center, and the suspect was taken to UAB Medical West in Hoover for treatment.

Both officers sustained bruises and abrasions in the incident. One officer also sustained a minor concussion, and the second officer's hand was broken. Both the officers and the suspect have since been released from medical treatment, Rector said.

No formal charges have been made, but Rector said the department expects to obtain warrants and release more information by Tuesday.
