Two arrested for Al Seier Drive car break-in
Officers responded to a suspicious male breaking into a vehicle at 5:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22. A resident in the 3500 block of Al Seier Drive observed a white male subject inside their car, parked in the driveway. Officers were unable to locate the male suspect but they discovered a backpack containing stolen items that he left behind.
Another officer patrolling the same area stopped a suspicious car traveling on Al Seier Road. Officers determined the two female occupants were accomplices of the male suspect. They had dropped off the male so he could break into vehicles and had returned to the area to pick him up. The females also had two-way handheld radios in their possession that were going to be used to communicate with their male accomplice.
The male has been identified but has not yet been arrested. Detectives are working to gather evidence to obtain warrants for his arrest. The two females were arrested and are charged as follows:
Sarah Marie Barfield, 25, Birmingham
- 2 counts Unlawful Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, $8,000.00 bond each
- Possession of Burglary Tools, $8,000 bond
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, $1,000 bond
- Total bond, $25,000
Tiffany Ann Moore, 35, Bessemer
- 2 counts Unlawful Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, $8,000 bond each
- Possession of Burglary Tools, $8,000 bond
- Total bond, $24,000
Barfield and Moore are currently in the Hoover City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer later today.
More charges are likely, as detectives believe Barfield, Moore and the male subject could be responsible for as many as 14 overnight break-ins. It appears all of the victim’s car doors were left unlocked. Residents are encouraged to always lock their car doors and never leave valuables in plain sight.
