Police investigate suspicious envelope at Blue Cross/Blue Shield

Hoover Police and Fire Department were called to Blue Cross/Blue Shield at 450 Riverchase Parkway East on Feb. 27. Employees reported that a suspicious envelope was received at that location.

A Hoover Police Explosives K-9 responded and detected no evidence of any explosive material. Hoover Fire Department Hazardous Materials team also responded and examined the envelope. Preliminary tests for biological or chemical agents has also returned negative.

The envelope has been safely removed from the building and will be taken to a laboratory for further analysis.
