Hoover police are urging parents to caution their children after a suspicious man was seen in Scout Creek part of Trace Crossings.

The man was in a parked car on Scout Ridge Drive and motioned for two boys, ages 10 and 12, to walk up to his car and “get in” about 9:20 a.m. this morning, police report.

The boys ignored the suspect, rode away on their bicycles and notified their parents.

After the boys rode away, the suspect drove away from the area. He is described as a white male between 40 and 50 years old with brown, graying hair. He was driving a black Audi sedan.

“Residents are urged to be on the lookout for this vehicle and to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity,” Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said. “Caution kids to be aware of their surroundings and to simply run if approached by a stranger.”

Anyone with information about the suspect can contact Detective Chad Godsey at 739-6125.
