So, what’s happening on St. Patrick’s Day?

Hoover residents don’t have to look further than two local establishments for fun on St. Patrick's Day weekend. On Tap Sports Café, located at the Galleria, and Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in The Grove shopping center are hosting outdoor parties featuring drink specials, authentic Irish food, music and games.

On Tap will celebrate with “St. Pat’s On Tap” from noon to 10 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 15, with activities both inside the restaurant and in the parking lot.

Drink specials include Killian’s draft, a special Irish draft brewed by Rogue Ales in Oregon, green beer and Irish car bombs, along with On Tap’s regular beer and drink selections. Irish food will include corned beef roll-ups and shepherd’s pie.

Also planned are competitive tournaments. Bands scheduled to play include Russell Hopper, Ryan Morrison with Jasper Coal Band, Stuart McNair, Hooley, and Groove Daddy at 9 p.m.

Co-owner Todd Beegle said the early part of the day will feature activities for the entire family, with Alabama Pike and Drums performing at noon, followed by the Alabama Academy of Irish Dance at 1:15 p.m.

“We’ve never had a really big St. Patrick’s event at the Hoover location and thought it would be fun to do something,” Beegle said.

Beef ‘O’ Brady’s will also host a weekend-long St. Patrick’s Day event March 15 and 16. Like On Tap, the establishment will also serve food and drinks outside, along with outdoor activities.

“We like to recognize that day for celebration and having a good time,” owner George McCluney said.

McCluney said this will be the fourth year Beef ‘O’ Brady’s has hosted an event, with activities planned from noon to midnight on Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday. He described the event as a “mini music festival,” with several groups scheduled to perform.

Patrons can also expect Irish food specials that include corned beef and hash, Reuben sandwiches and shepherd’s pie.

Also planned are competitive tournaments for adults. Activities for children include a moonwalk and face painting.

Cost for the event is $7 per day or $10 for both days. For more information, call 987-9464.
