An altercation at Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall late this afternoon ended with guns drawn by police along U.S. 31 and a couple in custody, police said.

Hoover police received a call from Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall after a woman reportedly struck an employee of the car dealership.

The woman was attempting to buy a car when she got into an altercation with the Hendrick employee and struck her, Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said. The employee was not injured in the altercation.

But after the altercation, the woman left and took a car belonging to Hendrick, Rector said. There was a man waiting on her.

Hoover police later found the pair and pulled them over on U.S. 31 just south of the intersection with John Hawkins Parkway. Rector said he is unsure of what charges the couple will face, but they likely will be charged Saturday.
