Police search for escaped work release inmate

A 46-year-old Alabama Department of Corrections work release inmate walked away from his work assignment this afternoon around 3 p.m.

John Edward Sharpe was part of a work crew that was doing cabinet work at Hoover Fire Station #7 on Inverness Parkway.

DOC supervisors and Hoover Police remain in the area, searching for the subject.
