Police respond to fatal vehicle accident

At 12:17 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 officers responded to a single vehicle accident on I-65 southbound just before the Cahaba River Bridge.

A Volkswagen Golf left the roadway, traveled into the median and struck the concrete base of an interstate sign. The driver, a 27-year-old male from Montevallo, was transported to UAB hospital with unknown injuries.

The passenger, a 24-year-old male from Maylene, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Fire Department paramedics. He has been identified as Addison Connell of Maylene, Alabama.
