Hoover police investigate Alford Avenue home invasion, robbery

Hoover police are investigating a robbery that occurred at an Alford Avenue home on Wednesday.

Police responded to the home in the 1500 block of Alford Avenue at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The resident, and elderly man, said he was in his den when he heard a knock at the front door. The door was unlocked, and an unknown black man with a handgun entered the house immediately after knocking.

The suspect demanded cash from the victim, took money from his wallet and fled. There was no getaway vehicle. The suspect was in his 30's wearing jeans and a dark colored hoodie, police report.
