One dead, one injured in I-459 vehicle accident

On Jan. 31 at 3:10 a.m., Hoover Police and Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident on I-459 northbound just north of the I-65 interchange.

A 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling northbound, struck the inside guardrail before coming to rest. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old male, was pronounced dead on the scene by Fire Department paramedics. His identity will be released upon notification of next of kin.

A 26-year-old female passenger was transported to UAB Hospital by a Hoover Fire Department Rescue Unit. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. Hoover Police Traffic investigators are working to reconstruct the accident to determine its cause.
