New traffic light being installed at Chapel Lane and Al Seier Road

Residents concerned about speeding cars using Chapel Lane to get to the Riverchase Galleria and Patton Creek shopping center will soon get some relief.

Hoover city officials are installing a new traffic light on Chapel Lane at Al Seier Road just up from Rooms To Go and the new Field & Stream store. The lights were up but weren’t operational yet as of early Friday, July 17.

Hoover City Councilman John Lyda said the new traffic light will boost safety on Chapel Lane, which he said traffic estimates say is used by about 10,000 vehicles a day. The route is often used by drivers seeking an alternative to get to the shopping areas and the Galleria Boulevard entrance to Interstate 459.

“A lot of residents of Bluff Park and other areas of western Hoover use that road,” Lyda said. “I’m glad to see the traffic light being installed to improve traffic flow as well as a safety measure for our drivers."

The new light at Chapel Lane and Al Seier Road joins others installed in recent days in the area. Last week, city workers  installed a traffic light on Ross Bridge Parkway directly in front of Deer Valley Elementary. Nearly two miles away, a road crew put up a new traffic light at the intersection of Ross Bridge Parkway and Shannon-Oxmoor Road.
