Man shot, killed outside of Lake Cyrus home

Hoover police are investigating the shooting death of a 33-year-old husband and father that occurred early this morning in the Lake Cyrus community.

Police say the victim was leaving his Lake Cyrus home to go to the gym before work when he was shot. The incident occurred in the 5500 block of Parkside Circle around 4:55 a.m., and the man was shot at least once.

Capt. Gregg Rector said the victim collapsed in front of his house and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are not ruling out any scenarios at this time, Rector said, but the shooting may be connected with a string of car burglaries in the area.

Rector said there were at least 10 car burglaries on Parkside Circle last night.

“We’re focusing on the theory that the victim may have surprised someone who was breaking into his car,” Rector said.
