Birmingham man charged with robbery following incident at Chow Town Grill and Buffet

Hoover police have charged a Birmingham man with robbery in connection to an incident at the Chow Town Grill and Buffet last month.

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Zungi Taro Moffett, forced the cash register open at the restaurant at 1668 Montgomery Highway in the Hoover Square shopping center on March 21 around 9 p.m., according to police. Employees confronted him and attempted to detain him, but the suspect allegedly pushed an employee to the ground and fled the scene.

Moffett was formally charged with third-degree robbery on March 28 due to the force he used during the incident, according to police. Moffett was arrested by the Birmingham Police Department on April 6. His bond is set at $5,000.
