Hoover police arrested a man in connection to an alleged 2014 sexual assault.

Nicholas James Ketter, a 36-year-old Montgomery resident, was arrested Tuesday, March 1 and charged with second degree sodomy and second degree sexual abuse. The charges stem from a 2014 sexual assault, according to police, and the case was first reported six weeks ago.

The assault occurred in a Hoover residence, and the victim was a female child under the age of 16, according to police.

“No further details will be released concerning this case due to its sensitive nature and the age of the victim,” said Hoover Capt. Gregg Rector.

Detectives obtained formal arrest warrants on Monday, Feb. 29, and Ketter was taken into custody Tuesday around 10 a.m. He was at a business in the 2700 block of Gunter Park West in Montgomery at the time of his arrest. He was booked at Hoover City Jail and transferred to Jefferson County Jail. Ketter’s bond is set at $36,000.

The investigation is ongoing, Rector said, and additional charges are possible.

“We take every case seriously but especially those that involve child victims. Our detectives spent a significant amount of time on this case and we’re pleased with the progress so far,” Rector said. “It’s always sickening to see this type behavior but we’re certainly committed to seeing justice served. Mr. Ketter will be held accountable for his actions.”

Anyone with information about this case or Ketter can contact Sgt. Nina Monosky at 444-7793.
