Man and woman found dead in Deer Valley home

A death investigation is under way after two people were found shot to death in a Deer Valley home today.

Hoover police received a call from a family member of one of the deceased at 10:37 a.m. The man said he went to the home in the 5500 block of Colony Lane to check on his family member because he was concerned when the person didn’t show up for work this morning, Capt. Gregg Rector said.

“He went there to check on the family member, and he discovered two adults, a male and a female, deceased when he entered the home,” Rector said.

It appears both people suffered gunshot wounds, but an autopsy likely won’t be performed until Thursday, Rector said. Police do not believe there is a threat to anyone else, he said.

“We don’t believe at this point that there is a gunman at large,” Rector said.

More details in the case and the victims’ names will likely be released following the autopsy, he said.
