The LEGO Americana Roadshow officially opened on Aug. 22.

Angela Jacks, marketing manager for Riverchase Galleria, said the crowds showed up as soon as the roadshow was completed.

“People were here starting at 10 a.m.,” Jacks said.

Replicas of United States landmarks made entirely from LEGO bricks will be on display throughout the Galleria until Sept. 7. The Roadshow was set up overnight from Aug. 19-20, starting around 9 p.m. and continuing until past 4 a.m., Jacks said.

Models include the U.S. Capitol Building, White House, Supreme Court, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Independence Hall and Old North Church.

The most eye-catching replica, Jacks said, is the Capitol Building. It was built in five parts and took more than 1,400 hours to complete.

In addition to the replicas, there is a LEGO play area in Center Court, where visitors can build their own creations. There is also a scavenger hunt map with questions to guide everyone through the replicas.

Anyone hoping to take home a build can stop by on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 to build their own replica of LEGO Independence Hall. While supplies last, visitors can stop by Center Court from noon to 4 p.m. to build and take home a mini version of the building.

The exciting part of the roadshow, Jacks said, is that everyone she has seen at the mall seems to enjoy the displays.

“No matter your age, race, sex or gender, everyone loves LEGOs,” Jacks said.
