A house in Hoover’s Lake Cyrus community had extensive damage from a fire Saturday night after being struck by lightning, according to neighbors.

The Hoover Fire Department reported the fire was in the 5500 block of Lake Cyrus Lane. At least four fire engines responded, including a ladder truck, the Fire Department said.

Neighbor Susie Tignor reported that everyone inside the house was able to get out safely, but the home sustained quite a bit of damage.

Neighbors set up a GoFundMe account to assist homeowners Seth and Morgan Ary and their two children with clothing, essentials and perhaps assistance in rebuilding their home. The clubhouse at Lake Cyrus also is supposed to open at 10:30 a.m. Sunday to accept donations.

The Arys have a 4-year-old daughter who wears a size 4/5 and a size toddler 9 shoe. Their 2-year-old son wears size 2T, size 4 and 5 diapers and a size 6 toddler shoe, neighbors said.
