Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato has reorganized his top staff, promoting Melinda Lopez to become the city’s new chief financial officer.

Lopez has been the city’s director of information management and reporting and now officially will be chief financial and information officer, overseeing financial reporting and budgeting, accounting, purchasing and the information technology department.

Her promotion includes an increase in pay from $127,920 a year to $138,029 a year.

Robert Yeager, who has been the city’s finance director, now will be called the city treasurer, overseeing the revenue department, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll employees. His pay level will not change.

Brocato also changed new Executive Director Allan Rice’s job title from executive director to city administrator. Tim Westhoven, who has been assistant executive director, now will be called chief operations officer.

Westhoven, Yeager and Lopez will be at the same level in a new organizational chart and will all report to Rice, who in turn reports to the mayor, Brocato said.

The Hoover City Council tonight approved a budget amendment to accommodate the pay increase for Lopez and the position name changes.
