Hoover honors 2013 firefighters and paramedics of the year
On March 21, the City of Hoover held a ceremony to recognize the 2013 Firefighter of the Year, 2013 Paramedic of the Year, recent promotions, recent retirees and give special awards to its medical directors for exemplary performance.
Hoover Fire Department Executive Officer Rusty Lowe served as master of ceremonies, and Hoover Fire Chief John C. (Chuck) Wingate and Mayor Gary Ivey presented awards.
Also, the Hoover Public Safety Charity Foundation presented $25,000 to Camp Conquest from proceeds generated by its event at the Comedy Club, which is owned by Bruce and CheChe Ayers. The City of Hoover presented an additional $5,000 donation to the camp.
Camp Conquest is a division of the Pediatric Burn Foundation of America, supported locally by the Children's of Alabama Burn Center.
