Hoover Fire Department holds Promotions & Awards Ceremony

On Tuesday, March 31, the Hoover Fire Department recognized promotions, retirements and awards during a ceremony held at the Hoover Public Library.

"Our employees are our most valuable assets," said  Executive Officer Rusty Lowe.

The department began the ceremony by honoring Lieutenant Carl Foster who passed away in 2013. The department recognized Foster's family and presented them with a memorial plaque.

"These retirees have a combined 320 years of service between them," said Fire Chief John Wingate. "They understood their mission and have done fantastic job with their work, command, and leadership."

At the end of the awards ceremony, the City of Hoover presented a check for $5,000 to the Pediatric Burn Foundation of America and Camp Conquest, which is a summer camp program designed to respond to the needs of pediatric burn survivors. Additionally, the Hoover Public Safety Charity Foundation donated $25,000 to the Pediatric Burn Foundation of America.
