Hoover election forum set for Tuesday night at Hyatt Regency

by

Hoover residents on Tuesday night have a chance to hear directly from the three candidates for Hoover mayor and 15 people contending for the seven seats on the Hoover City Council.

All the candidates have confirmed they will be present at an election forum in the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham — The Wynfrey Hotel. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for a meet-and-greet time with candidates in a nearby room, and the forum is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and last roughly three hours.

The forum is sponsored by the Hoover Sun, Hoover City Schools Foundation and Hoover Rotary Club. Each organization will have a representative asking questions, including questions submitted by the public in advance. Candidates also will have a chance to introduce themselves and tell why they’re running for office.

Mike Royer, a longtime Birmingham TV news broadcaster who now is managing editor at the University of Alabama’s WVUA-TV/Channel 23, will serve as moderator. The night will end with another meet-and-greet time with candidates, with light concessions being sold.
