Hoover council discusses 2014 Action Plan
During Monday's meeting, the City Council approved a funding agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regarding the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program 2014 Action Plan. The grant is for a total of $303,740.
The CDBG Program is a federally funded program, which provides grants to carry out a wide range of community development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and improved community facilities and services. Beginning in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Projects in Hoover under the program include Project Homeless Connect, various after-school programs and the Patton Chapel Road project. The program began in October 2014 and will run through September 2015.
In other new, the council:
- Amended a resolution regarding installation of fire hydrants in the McGill Crossings development.
- Authorized the installation of fire hydrant at Fire Station No. 10 in Ross Bridge.
- Reappointed Municipal Judge for two year term.
- Authorized a business associate agreement with ESO Solutions, Inc. regarding electronic patient care report software.
- Authorized an agreement with Vantiv, LLC and Fifth Third Bank to provide credit and debit card processing for the Municipal Court.
- Renewed a franchise agreement with Access Fiber Group, Inc. Authorized agreement with Access Fiber Group Holdings, LLC.
- Approved ABC Application for Hoover Beer Place, Inc. d/b/a Package Store 150, located at 2804 John Hawkins Parkway, Suite 108. This is due to a change in ownership on a previously approved site.
- Approved ABC Application for Rollin Dough Hoover, LLC, d/b/a Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, located at 181 Main Street, Suite 241 (Patton Creek Shopping Center). This is a new business on a previously approved site (previously Café Lazio).
The next council meeting will be Monday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
