Hoover Beautification Board takes nominations for 2016 commercial awards
The Hoover Beautification Board is taking nominations for its 2016 Commercial Beautification Awards.
People may nominate properties in a dozen categories, including:
- Single-tenant businesses
- Shopping centers
- Restaurants
- Hotels and motels
- Financial institutions
- Service stations and convenience stores
- Professional offices
- Churches
- Large office complexes
- Fire stations
- Educational facilities
- Other
Properties are judged on: overall appearance of the building and grounds; creativity with entrance features, trees, seasonal color beds and other woody vegetation; and design, color coordination, use of natural features and blending in with the surroundings.
All properties must be completely in the city limits of Hoover and comply with all city ordinances to be considered.
Nominations are due by Friday, May 27, and judging is scheduled to take place June 22, Beautification Board member JoAnn Powell said. Winners should be announced in July and recognized at a luncheon at the Riverchase Country Club on Aug. 9. Winners will receive a Beautification Board sign to place on their property for two years.
Entry forms can be obtained on the city of Hoover website but must be returned to the Beautification Board at the Hoover Municipal Center by Friday, May 27.
