Hazardous Waste Day returns in April

The City of Hoover's annual Hazardous Waste Day is an opportunity to safely dispose of household chemicals, pesticides, paints, batteries, automobile fluids, electronics, medications, guns, ammo and other hazardous items.

This year's event is scheduled for April 25 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Hoover Met, 100 Ben Chapman Drive. 

This event is only for Hoover residents, not for businesses. Verification of residency (valid driver license, current photo ID with address) required. For a complete list of acceptable and non-acceptable items and more information, visit hooveralabama.gov.


Items accepted by the City include: 

• Automotive Fluids

• Batteries (automotive & alkaline) 

• Caulk/glue 

• Drain Cleaners/Openers 

• Fluorescent Tubes/Light Bulbs 

• Household Cleaners

• Oil & Latex Paint

• Pesticides, Herbicides, Fertilizers 

• Standard Vehicle Tires

• Kerosene 

• Moth Balls 

• Insect Repellent 

• Waste Cooking Oil 

Items accepted by Hoover Police include:

• Gun Powders 

• Military Ordnance/Relics/Souvenirs 

• Ammunition 

• Explosives & Explosive materials 

• Firearms 

• Edged Weapons 

• Medications
