Fatal shooting at The Cliffs at Rocky Ridge

A 31-year-old male was shot in the head at The Cliffs at Rocky Ridge Apartments.

Around 3:06 p.m., a woman called police reporting she found the 31-year-old male, a family member, unresponsive when she got home from work. Hoover Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Detectives and crime scene technicians have collected evidence and interviewed several people. Preliminary information shows the victim's 2-year-old son might have shot his father by accident.

Police report other possible scenarios are being investigated, but there is no indication of a third person or intruder at this time. 

Additional information and the victim's identity will be released Wednesday.
