Fahrenheit 451 showing this Thursday and Friday

Hoover Public library welcomes Fahrenheit 451 to The Library Theatre this week.

Considered science fiction when it was first published, Fahrenheit 451 is Ray Bradbury’s dystopian tale of a bleak future where literature and knowledge are on the verge of extinction, reads thelibrarytheatre.com.

Antagonist Guy Montag is a fireman with the frightful, but routine job of starting fires to destroy books and the houses that contain them, until his eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, forces Guy to confront his own emptiness and question the oppressive society in which he lives. Heavily debated on issues of censorship, the effects of technology on society and the means by which knowledge is gained, this classic is as relevant today as when it was written in 1953.

Shows are Thursday, Oct. 10 and Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.

Regular box office hours are Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., with special hours for performances. Tickets are $25 each, plus processing fees of $2.50 per ticket. Accepted forms of payment are cash, check, VISA, MasterCard or Discover. Mail orders are not accepted. Seating is reserved, with no guarantee that the same seats are available for all performances purchased.
