The driver who fled a traffic stop last Wednesday was arrested this morning in Hoover on charges related to the accident.

At 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, a police officer tried to stop the man, 42-year-old Jeromy Shane Tincher, for speeding on Patton Chapel Road. The driver began to slow down, and then sped away and crashed his 2012 Nissan Sentra. The car struck four vehicles and a power pole, which caused a three hour power outage.

The driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was released. He was arrested at his residence this morning and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Bail has been set at $15,000. More charges may be possible, pending toxicology results.
