The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a conditional use request for a MaxxClean Car Wash off of John Hawkins Parkway at Monday’s meeting.

Kevin Pence of Hoover-based Commercial Construction and Maintenance Inc. represented MaxxClean Car Wash at the meeting. The property at 2875 John Hawkins Parkway is owned by First US Bank and is zoned as Community Business District.

Pence said construction on the 3,500 square foot facility will begin in November, and the car wash will open in late spring or early summer 2016. The facility will include 18 vacuum stations under a canopy, a dual pay point and prep stations.

"We chose this location due to a number of factors," Pence said, "the primary factor being that we feel that the Wal-Mart and Academy shopping center area of Highway 150 is under-served from a carwash perspective. We feel that the traffic count and the demographics of the area are favorable for a carwash."
