City of Hoover installs new welcome sign on U.S. 31

The City of Hoover has installed a new sign welcoming drivers on U.S. 31 entering the city from Vestavia Hills.

The sign on U.S. 31 South, saying “The City of Hoover welcomes you,” was put up in late July, City Executive Allen Pate said.

“The old sign had been there for years,” Pate said. “It was faded and tattered. It was better to replace with a fresh sign rather than trying to repair and refresh the old one.”

 The sign is located on U.S. 31 South just after you pass Interstate 65 and enter the city. Pate said he is glad to see the new one put up to welcome citizens into Hoover. He said replacing the sign got delayed until they found the right design.

“What we have there is adequate for now, but may need to be bigger and replaced later,” Pate said.
