Chick-fil-A may soon open in The Grove shopping center.

Residents of the Hoover area near The Grove shopping center may soon have another option to get their favorite chicken sandwiches without having to deal with traffic near the Riverchase Galleria.

The Hoover Planning and Zoning Board has approved final plans to combine two lots adjacent to Grove Boulevard and Alabama 150, clearing way for a new Chick-fil-A. The July 13 vote on S--715-21, a request by Kristen Ferreti, Authorized Agent for Chick-Fil-A, Inc., was for Final Plat approval for replat of Lots 1-A and 1-B at The Grove. Chick-fil-A, Inc., is the owner of the property, currently zoned PUD PC (Planned Commercial).

The plan combines two 1.18 acre areas off Alabama 150 and Grove Boulevard into a combined 2.36-acre plot where Chick-fil-A plans to build a new restaurant. Councilman John Lyda, who serves on the Hoover Planning and Zoning Board, said the plan has now gotten full approval unless any more zoning changes are proposed.

Lyda said he sees no problem with the new restaurant being built just two miles from two other Chick-fil-As. One Chick-fil-A is in the food court inside the Riverchase Galleria and another is across the street from the mall on Alabama 150.

“People here in Hoover love Chick-fil-A,” Lyda said. “Hoover residents on the western area of town have been saying they want more restaurants.”

Efforts to reach Chick-fil-A officials in Atlanta were unsuccessful. The proposal does not say when Chick-fil-A plans to open the restaurants nor who the operator would be.
