Chamber golf tourney returns

The 17th Annual Hoover Chamber Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27, at Riverchase Country Club.

Around 130 golfers will participate this year, according to golf committee chairman Joe DiBenedetto of American Osment.

St. Vincent's Health System is the title sponsor again this year, and Hoover Tactical Firearms as the luncheon sponsor and providing some goodie bag prizes as well.

This is the largest fundraising event for the chamber, and a majority of proceeds fund around $20,000 in scholarships for area students through the Lila Parks Scholarship Fund and the Miss Hoover Pageant.

This year’s tournament will follow a four-man scramble format, with golfers playing as a four-player team. The chamber will provide prizes to all four players of three winning teams.

Raffle items at the event will include the grand prize, a two-night weekend in the presidential suite at The Wyfrey Hotel with a dinner for two in Shula's, totaling $3,150 in retail value. Raffle Tickets are $5 each or a $20 for a book of five.
