Hoover detectives obtained a robbery warrant Feb. 5 in the Saturday robbery of an 86-year-old customer at Publix in Hoover Court. The victim was standing near his car when a gunman approached him demanding cash. The suspect took $10 and fled in a nearby vehicle.

Police were able to develop a suspect in this case after working with Homewood Police Department detectives on a similar robbery that occurred there on the same date. The suspect is charged as follows:

Jaricko Deon Hooks, 21, Birmingham

Hoover officers and the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Hooks on Feb. 6 at 6:30 a.m. at a residence in the 1700 block of 18th Place North in Birmingham. He was taken to the Hoover City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later today.
