Alabama Association of School Boards accepting applications for Hoover Superintendent opening through April 3

The Alabama Association of School Boards is seeing strong interest in the superintendent for Hoover City Schools, a consultant said on Friday, March 20.

Kendy Behrends, who is helping the state school board association on the search on behalf of the Hoover Board of Education, said applications will be accepted until the April 3 deadline. She declined a request on how many people have applied so far.

 “We do not release any information regarding the number of applicants or who they are until the public meeting on April 14,” Behrends said.

The Hoover Board of Education will hold a special meeting on April 14 at Spain Park High School, where for the first time the five finalists names will be shared with the board and the public.

Behrends said the remainder of the applicants are assured that their names will remain confidential “unless the applicants themselves choose to share that information.”  Once the five finalists names are made public on April 14, the Hoover school board will begin preparing for their interviews, she said.

Jim Reese has been serving as interim superintendent since longtime Hoover Superintendent Andy Craig stepped down in December for a job with the state board of education.
