Adamsville man arrested, charged with human trafficking

After months of investigation, Hoover police have arrested a 27-year-old Adamsville man, and he was charged with two counts of human trafficking.

"Our Family Services Division investigators have poured all of their efforts into this case for the past two months," Capt. Gregg Rector said. "Most importantly, we were able to help a victim remove herself from a lifestyle that involved prostitution and violent attacks."

Hoover police were first called to investigate a domestic violence assault on July 25, according to a news release. The assault reportedly occurred at the Embassy Suites Hotel on John Hawkins Parkway. 

The victim told police her boyfriend physically assaulted her and was forcing her to work as a prostitute, according to police. The assaults reportedly occurred over 11 months. 

"This woman was being physically beaten and verbally abused over the past several months," Rector said. "What started out as a normal relationship soon turned into a horrific existence that involved forced prostitution and regular assaults. She was bitten, struck with a handgun, struck with fists and even assaulted with a tree branch during the time she was controlled by this individual."

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Condorius Sanchez Williams, was possibly connected to promoting prostitution in the Homewood and Montgomery areas as well, Rector said.

Williams was located at a Regency Inn in Montgomery with the help of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and was arrested on Monday, Sept. 26. His total bond is set at $200,000. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail. Williams was also in possession of a handgun when the marshals found him, and police plan to seek the additional charge of felon in possession of a gun, Rector said.
