A 32-year-old man was killed and a 5-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were injured in a wreck between a motorcycle and sport-utility vehicle on Alabama 119 in Hoover Wednesday night, police said.

A 2014 Triumph Scrambler motorcycle collided with a 2002 Lexus sport-utility vehicle at the intersection of Alabama 119 and Brook Highland Parkway, police Capt. Gregg Rector said in a news release.

The police and fire departments responded at 6:28 p.m., and the 32-year-old driver of the motorcycle was declared dead on the scene.

The 5-year-old boy was a passenger on the motorcycle and was taken to Children’s Hospital, Rector said. He likely has broken bones, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Rector said.

The driver of the Lexus, a 17-year-old girl, was treated on the scene by Hoover Fire Department paramedics. The identity of the deceased man was being withheld until his family could be notified. Police traffic investigators are working to reconstruct the accident to determine its cause, Rector said.
