Hoover Police have formally charged a Birmingham man in connection with multiple robberies that reportedly targeted Hispanic victims.

Marquise Dante Williams, 24, was arrested by Birmingham police following a robbery on Feb. 13 and has been held at Jefferson County Jail. Williams has reportedly confessed to some robberies in Hoover. Hoover police charged Williams with six counts of first degree robbery on Feb. 18. His bond is set at $360,000.

After Birmingham police arrested Williams on Feb. 13, they reportedly recognized similarities betweena a robbery in Birmingham and robberies in Hoover and contacted Hoover PD.

Capt. Gregg Rector said Williams’ charges stem from three incidents, on Nov. 17, Jan. 6 and Feb. 10, but Williams is “likely responsible” for several others.

On Nov. 17, an armed suspect robbed four Hispanic males near the 1800 building at Hampton Place in the Place at Galleria Apartments on Lorna Road, according to police. The suspect reportedly stole cell phones and several hundred dollars for the victims.

On Jan. 6, another victim was robbed inside the laundry room at the Place at Galleria Apartments. The suspect reportedly took $5 and a cell phone, and the crime was captured on video.

On Feb. 10, a robbery occurred near a patio at the 1800 building. The suspect reportedly took three cell phones and hit the victim in the head before leaving the scene. That victim was also one of the four victims from Nov. 17, according to police.
