'Significant announcement' coming on Chapel Lane extension

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the City of Hoover will make a significant announcement regarding its Chapel Lane extension project.

According to a release, an event will be held to make the announcement at 10 a.m. in the Rooms-To-Go parking lot in Patton Creek.

City representatives could not confirm whether the announcement included news regarding completion of the Chapel Lane extension project.

In May, Hoover Sun reported that the project, which is designed to lengthen Chapel Lane under I-459 to connect with Galleria Boulevard, was recently bolstered with additional funding from the city. At that time, Mayor Gary Ivey said the nearly $6 million project was slated for completion by the end of the summer.
