New Hoover rezoning proposal released
A new proposal for rezoning in Hoover was posted on the Hoover City Schools website today.
This proposal is the most current draft released by Hoover City Schools, which reflects the details of Superintendent Andy Craig’s recommended realignment plan.
In the original draft plan released, Lake Crest neighborhood was rezoned to Trace Crossing, but the new plan shows Lake Crest staying at Gwin Elementary. Bluff Park Elementary was also in the original rezoning proposal, but is not mentioned in the current proposal.
This new proposal consists of eight rezones within Hoover City Schools:
1. Students in Lake Cyrus area would move from Deer Valley Elementary to Trace Crossings.
2. Students in the Ridge Crossings multi-dwelling units would move from Deer Valley Elementary to Trace Crossings.
3. Students in the Landmark at Magnolia Glen multi-dwelling units would move from Trace Crossings Elementary to Deer Valley Elementary.
4. Students in the Riverchase Landing multi-dwelling units would from Trace Crossings Elementary to South Shades Crest Elementary.
5. Students in the Crowne at Galleria Woods area multi-dwelling units would move from South Shades Crest Elementary to Trace Crossings.
6. Students from the oncoming developments in the Grove area would move from Gwin Elementary to Trace Crossings Elementary.
7. Students in the Wood Gardens and Wildwood multi-dwelling units would move from Rocky Ridge Elementary to Riverchase Elementary.
8. Students in the Riverchase Parkway area multi-dwelling units between Highway 31 and Interstate 65 would move from Riverchase Elementary to Greystone Elementary. Those units consist of Riverchase Gardens, Royal Oaks, The Gables Condominiums, Summerchase of Riverchase, Colonial Grand at Riverchase Trails and Sterling Oaks of Riverchase.
Only the areas listed in this proposal are planned to change, which means that some of the small communities such as Bluff Park will not be separated as originally proposed.
